Democrats are reeling following the latest email scandal while polls show American voters are paying attention as they bolster Republican Donald Trump with his first leads among likely voters in months.
It has been one scandal followed by another for Democrat Hillary Clinton as she tries to top Trump for the White House. Every day turns up another secret email or political scandal for the embroiled candidate.
Many of the new numbers are coming from the mainstream media polls taken before or during breaking news of a renewed investigation into Clinton’s email corruption.
Trump is leading Clinton in the ABC/Washington Post tracking poll of voters across the nation. One week before election day Trump has 46 percent to Clinton’s 45 percent in numbers released Tuesday. Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson polled at 3 percent and Green Party candidate Jill Stein garnered 2 percent. The poll was conducted Oct. 27-30.
As reported in The Daily Caller:
ABC News said the new poll indicates “strong enthusiasm for Hillary Clinton has ebbed since the renewal of the FBI’s email investigation.”
“Trump now leads Clinton by 8 points in the share of voters who are very enthusiastic about their choice as of Friday,” ABC reported.
Trump’s one-point lead is within the margin of error. The pollster says there is margin of sampling error of 3 points.
Clinton was leading Trump in some national polls by double digits just a week ago. During this latest poll, the FBI announced it was investigating more emails – hundreds of thousands of them – that some political leaders and news media said could be connected to Clinton.
The FBI director, James Comey, previously acknowledged the bureau conducted a criminal investigation to determine whether Clinton unlawfully sent or received classified information on her personal email account during that time. But over the summer, he said he did not recommend prosecuting the case.
News of the investigation appears to have bolstered Trump in other polls, taking a lead or closing the gap against Clinton.
In New Hampshire, a bellwether state in the presidential election, Trump edged Clinton by 2 points on with eight days to go. Trump captured 45 percent to Clinton’s 43 percent with likely voters in the Granite State’s New Hampshire Journal/Inside Sources survey out Monday, according to The Hill.
The poll includes independents and undecided voters, and Trump leads by only 1 percent in the same poll in a head-to-head scenario. The New Hampshire Journal/Inside Sources conducted its latest poll of 408 likely voters in New Hampshire via landline telephone interviews from Oct. 26-28, according to The Hill. It has a 4.2 percent margin of error.
Polls across the nation still show Clinton with leads, but by fewer points and Trump is tightening the race in every poll considered.
News of a renewed FBI investigation that includes Clinton affected some of the poll changes, but many of the polls were trending toward Trump before the news broke.
What has changed during this time is mainstream media was forced to report hard, negative news about Clinton and the DNC. Both were shown by investigative journalists and WikiLeaks to operate corrupt and criminal systems privately and affecting the election process.
Voters are finally starting to see Clinton for who she is – dark and dirty – and not her public face which is a lie.
