While Donald Trump talked about jobs, the Democrats harped on trannies in bathrooms. While Donald Trump talked about trade, the Democrats wined about white privilege. While Donald Trump talked about security, the Democrats were busy letting thousands of unvetted Muslims into our neighborhoods.
It shouldn’t, therefore, come as a surprise that even after getting beaten bloody – losing the White House, the Senate, the House, the majority of governorships, the majority of state legislatures and their last shred of dignity – the brain trust of the Democrat Party would decide that what they really need is more of the same!
With that genius plan in mind, liberal congressional leaders filed their first piece of legislation for the new session.
The legislation seeks reparations for black Americans because of slavery, and an apology.
Reparations are the most commonly advocated goal in the agenda of liberal identity politics, particularly for slavery, according to The Political Insider. Under reparations, people who never owned slaves will pay money to people who never were slaves.
That reality bounces off deaf ears when dealing with race-based lawmakers seeking to appease their base of voters.
From The Washington Examiner:
Members of the Congressional Black Caucus and other Democrats this week re-introduced legislation that would set up a commission to consider whether reparations should be paid to black Americans for slavery.
Rep. John Conyers, D-Mich., has proposed the bill in each Congress for at least the last two decades. A description of the bill said the legislation would also seek an apology for the “racial and economic discrimination against African-Americans.”
It’s a response to the “fundamental injustice, cruelty, brutality, and inhumanity of slavery in the United States.”

Such legislation would create a complicated situation difficult to apply because of the infinite ways one person’s ancestry and race could be established.
How would any commission determine a person’s authenticity to receive reparations, i.e. black immigrants arriving in the country in the last decade or biracial Americans? Would such people get less reparations than others? Who would make that determination?
And the biggest question, who’s going to pay for it all? As Conservative Tribune points out:
According to The Root magazine, known for its usually unapologetically pro-black stance on the issues, even some free black Americans “bought and sold other black people, and did so at least since 1654, continuing to do so right through the Civil War.”
And even one of the most leftist papers in existence, The New York Times, admitted two years ago that were a reparations bill passed into law, payments would “have to come from taxpayers, who have no culpability for those past crimes and little, if any, of the benefit.”
Reparations are a bad idea for any segment of US society, and would only further divide the country along racial lines. If one group receives such a benefit based on sins of the past, it would open up any group of people to seek compensation for ills committed long ago.
Any bill calling for reparations should be tossed out and left to the subtext in the annals of history.
