The mainstream media have had a virtual field day with the ongoing saga surrounding President Donald Trump’s executive order which issued a temporary ban on refugees and some immigrants from seven predominately Muslim countries identified by the Obama administration as supporters of terrorism. The protests have garnered massive media attention.
The protests of the executive order, which is currently on hold pending judicial actions, have carried over into other countries who do not support Trump’s executive order. Protestors showed up at airports and at political sites throughout the world.
Such a protest occurred outside 10 Downing Street in London. A CNN correspondent made an interesting slip of the tongue. From The Washington Examiner:
“I’m standing now outside Downing Street at the tail end of this protest,” said CNN correspondent Diana Magnay. “I’ll just show you some of the banners that have been left for [British Prime Minister] Theresa May: ‘Theresa the Appeaser.’ Just down here: ‘Trump: Making America Hate Again.’ Just some of the banners that people have had.”
“One of my favorites today,” Magnay continued, is ‘White Lies Matter,’ obviously a reference to Donald Trump and Kellyanne Conway’s ‘alternative facts.’”
Media Research Center Vice President of Research Brent Baker commented on Magnay’s choice of words.
“Is it any wonder President Trump has such well-earned contempt for CNN when their correspondents so casually praise the supposed witness of a derogatory attack on administration officials by a bunch of leftists overseas,” Baker said. “Did a CNN reporter ever hail a ‘favorite’ Tea Party sign ridiculing Barack Obama? Of course not.”
CNN has long faced scrutiny from Trump for their negative coverage of him and their reporting of “fake news.”
