In one of the most divisive presidential campaigns in recent history, the attacks from the Clinton camp haven’t just been limited to Republicans or Republican nominee Donald Trump. Within the recent batch of emails released from WikiLeaks is a shocking insight into how the Clinton campaign really viewed former Democratic candidate Bernie Sanders and his platform.
According to The Daily Caller, Jake Sullivan, a long-time Clinton aide, emailed campaign chair John Podesta and other high-ranking Clinton staffers regarding Sanders’ advocacy of a $15 per hour minimum wage also known as the “Fight for 15” movement.
The report stated that, “Sullivan mocked supporters of the ‘Fight for 15’ movement – which was a staple of Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders’ campaign – as members of the ‘Red Army.’” The communist Russian army is formerly known as the Red Army.
The email in question was written in reply to one from Neera Tanden, president of the Center for American Progress. Tanden is quoted as saying:
Substantively, we have not supported $15 – you will get a fair number of liberal economists who will say it will lose jobs…Politically, we are not getting any pressure to join this from our end…But I’m not sweating it.
“John Podesta (and the Red Army) want to support $15!,” Sullivan replied.
Tanden then clarified that when Sullivan referenced the Red Army, he really meant the “base of the Democratic party.”
These emails illustrate just how far those in the Clinton campaign will go to ensure her victory and their power. It has nothing to do with what’s right for America. It has to do with what’s right for Clinton and her minions. This is a perfect example of the two-faced dealings that Clinton herself spoke of in another leak last week. She and her staff clearly have one private face that illustrates their true selves and a public face that shows only what they want us to believe. But we’re not buying it.
