Electors from all over the country met in December to formally elect Donald Trump to the White House. As the day of their vote approached, celebrities voiced their opposition and urged Trump electors to vote for anyone other than Trump. Their effort failed, of course, and President-elect Trump will take officially become the next president on January 20.
But the Never Trump movement and the celebrities who still cannot seem to accept that Hillary Clinton lost the election just refuse to stop their complaining. They continue to try to undermine the legitimacy of Trump’s victory.
Fox News reported Wednesday that a new effort has been launched by Hollywood celebrities. This time the target is Congress. They have released a video called #StandUpForUs featuring several actors including Sally Field, Rosie Perez, Steve Buscemi and Jeffrey Wright arguing that Congress should do everything they can to stop Trump from fulfilling his agenda.
In the video, the celebrities ask their supporters to send the video to their congressmen. They argue that the Congress is the “last line of defense.” They demand that they “vigorously oppose” Trump.
“We demand that you block nominees who threaten the rights of women, the LGBT community, people of color, immigrants and the poor,” the video says. They urge Congress to “obstruct and defeat” Trump’s agenda which they claim “violates our core values as diverse Americans.”
Rush Limbaugh was lambasted in 2008 for declaring that he hoped President Obama would fail. Now some of these same people are taking action to try to influence people to make sure that President-elect Trump will fail. The hypocrisy is glaring. Others on Twitter seem to agree.
