During his campaign, President-elect Donald Trump kept a close-knit group of advisers including his children, their spouses and several other key advisers. Among those were his campaign managers. The most recent was historic.
Kellyanne Conway was promoted to serve as Trump’s campaign manager in August where she successfully orchestrated the behind-the-scenes activities which helped Trump claim victory in November. Conway was the first woman to lead a successful presidential campaign as manager.
Since the election, Conway has maintained close ties with Trump serving as a member of his transition team. NBC News reported Thursday that her role with the Trump administration will continue.
Trump’s transition team announced that Conway will serve in the White House as a counselor to the president.
“She is a tireless and tenacious advocate of my agenda and has amazing insights on how to effectively communicate our message,” Trump said in a statement. “I am pleased that she will be part of my senior team in the West Wing.”
Conway graduated magna cum laude from Trinity College before starting her own polling and political research company. Her White House aspirations were unclear based on previous comments. Conway is the mother of four young children and had previously expressed concerns about her ability to be there for her family and effectively serve in the White House. That concern has apparently subsided.
“Essentially, my major concern is and will always be my four children,” Conway said. “But I’m very convinced this is a family-friendly West Wing and White House. I’ve seen Donald Trump up close and personal with his own children and his grandchildren, and certainly his 10-year-old son and his wife. And I know that he is very pro-family.”
Ordinarily we’d be seeing all the ‘glass ceiling’ articles for a woman history. But since this is a conservative Republican, that isn’t happening.
If Kellyanne Conway was a Dem the media would be doing flips about glass ceilings being broken for women. She's not, so they're not. Sad. pic.twitter.com/Q0jhd3eIdc
