It’s common knowledge that supposedly neutral Democrat insiders did all they could to undermine the insurgent, anti-establishment presidential campaign of Bernie Sanders to help Hillary Clinton get the nomination.
Although not particularly covered by the media, there were protests inside and outside the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia over the rigged system by the Never Hillary, Bernie-or-bust cohort.
Revelations about Clinton favoritism led to the resignation of DNC chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz and several other officials. The Vermont senator’s endorsement of Clinton in July did not sit well with many of his progressive supporters, who have accused Sanders of selling out.
The newest stash of hacked emails published by WikiLeaks allegedly implicates interim DNC chair Donna Brazile, a regular Clinton apologist on CNN, in the party’s one-sided approach.
From the Observer:
The latest release reveals current DNC chair Donna Brazile, when working as a DNC vice chair, forwarded to the Clinton campaign a January 2016 email obtained from the Bernie Sanders campaign, released by Sarah Ford, Sanders’ deputy national press secretary, announcing a Twitter storm from Sanders’ African-American outreach team. ‘FYI’ Brazile wrote to the Clinton staff. ‘Thank you for the heads up on this Donna,’ replied Clinton campaign spokesperson Adrienne Elrod.
“The second batch of emails include more evidence of collusion between the mainstream media and Clinton Campaign,” the Observer added.
During a private fundraiser, Clinton dismissed Sanders supporters as living in their parents’ basement and claimed that her formal rival was offering them what amounts to false promises.
Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein may be the ultimate beneficiary of disillusioned Bernie Sanders fans, although Republican nominee Donald Trump and Sanders both strongly oppose international trade deal giveaways such as the Trans-Pacific Partnership.
